Treatment of achilles tendinitis with corticosteroid injections is controversial.  Although some clinical researchers1 find no significant increase in spontaneous rupture of the tendon following such injections, there is animal experimental evidence2 of such harm, and a major current Clinical Practice Guideline3 discourages the practice.
